Yeah, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here. My bad, but I have good reason — the usual “I’m busy” excuse. But really, I am crazy busy, and it’s been pretty stellar. It’s been nice to keep my mind off of the majority of my anxieties and throw myself into work and reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances. Speaking of which, I recently had the opportunity to throw together a little styled shoot with some friends, some incredible vendors, and a hell of a lot of hot glue. This post is going to be a doozy image-wise, so be forewarned.
This shoot was put together at the very last minute – everything was handcrafted, collected, and fabricated in the week leading up to the shoot date. Meaning I had some major favors to pull in, and the alacrity with which these talented people/companies jumped on board is still happily reeling in my mind. I’m forever indebted to all of you, especially Jenna + McKinna. You ladies are the best. The shoot’s up live on Ruffled today; you can see it here. Even though I work there, it’s such a coup to have my work featured on the site. I was first and foremost a reader and lover of the site, and to be able to share something that inspired me so much makes me the happiest little bumblebee in the pack.

This dress from Mara Hoffman is a complete dream to me — easy, colorful, and breezy. If you look closely enough, it even has little pineapple designs throughout! Pair this sweetie with K Jacques sandals and some Karen Walker Deep Freeze sunglasses (which I’m so desperate to have), and you’ve got a winning look.
Once in a blue moon, I get a hankering to paint something. Somehow the act of putting paint on a fresh piece of canvas makes me feel better – and better about myself – despite the fact that I have legitimately no idea what I’m doing. Before I paint, I usually compile a reference sheet of pieces I really love, and go from there to end up with something with which I’m somewhat moderately happy. I’m actually pretty content with the piece I did this past weekend, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share some images of my inspiration and the real pros at work:
the asinine design ramblings of ashley. this is my little space for the sundry items and ideas that inspire me in my professional and personal lives, with a tinge of cat lady weirdness thrown in for good measure.
