The days of summer are quickly approaching, which means flirtier sundresses, sandals, and sunglasses all the time. Even though I’m not much of a beach person, my heart can’t help but fall in love with this romper/floppy hat combo.

After a few quick days in Rome, we headed over to Orvieto for a week of mosaic class and small-town exploration. We spent the week in a convent, San Lodovico, with three of the sweetest nuns you could ever hope to come across. They fed us, tucked us in at night, and gave us big smiles that crossed the otherwise debilitating language barrier. Bill and Kristi, our Orvieto angels, ensured every day went off without a snag — and they did, and it was wonderful. Here’s a handful of Orvieto, and more to be seen in the gallery below:

I’m getting there, I promise. As soon as I can possibly get my head to some sort of level place, Ashinine will be back to its, oh, regularly scheduled programming. This past week has been full of death, heartache, family woes, trying times, and my birthday — all the makings of a fine Tennessee Williams play. I’ve got two more massive sets of images from Italy to edit down, and gobs upon gobs of inspiration boards to make and share. Until then…
